welcome to the scene shop!

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Students report directly to the Assistant Technical Director.

  • This crew involves constructing scenery for one or more productions, using wood, steel and other materials. You may be asked to lift heavy objects.  You may get dirty.

  • No experience is necessary.

  • You will be graded on your attendance, participation and willingness to learn.

  • If uncomfortable doing something asked of you, please say so immediately; you will not be penalized.

  • Failure to follow proper safety protocols will negatively impact your grade and can result in dismissal from the crew.

  • All students, regardless of previous experience, must be trained on proper tool use prior to operating.  The Assistant Technical Director will supervise your training and may ask student Shop Staff to assist.

  • Prior to commencing your crew assignment, please review the guidelines linked below regarding PPE, General Safety Practices, and End of Day Cleaning.

  • If unclear on how to do something, particularly if using tools, be sure to ask - the only "stupid question" is the one you don't ask!

  • Students must sign in and out for their shift; a supervisor signature is required (this can be a member of the Shop Staff, the Assistant Technical Director, or the Technical Director).
