special considerations

Unauthorized Guests

UNAUTHORIZED GUESTS

  • If Actor or Technician is hoping someone to bring them something, a request should be made via the stage manager in advance

  • If an unauthorized or unknown person wanders into the theatre, it’s the job of someone in charge (ie. director, stage manager, other faculty) to find out who they are and why they’re in the space.

ANIMALS

  • Prior to bringing an animal into a production, the team must ensure that no member of the cast or crew is allergic.

  • Animals must be properly trained before coming into rehearsal.

  • Animals should have a designated place to be when not onstage.

  • Owner/Handler should be in the should he rehearsal at all times when animals are present.

  • The Director or Faculty Production Manager will need to fill out Visiting Animal Approval form at least 14 days before animal is scheduled to be in rehearsals

    • Visiting Animal Approval Form can be found here

    • UWL Visiting Animal Policy can be found here

CHILDREN

  • In the event that the script for a play or musical has roles for children and the director is interested in casting youth under 18 in those roles, the director should see the Department Chair.

  • All UWL youth safety regulations will be followed, including background checks, safety training, and protocol documentation.  This is a substantial process and there is no option to avoid these procedures.
