Standard safety Procedures
GENERAL

Making sure things are locked up at the end of each rehearsal

Wear proper clothing to rehearsal (shoes, clothes that are easy to move in)

Stage Managers must consult with the technical director before actors can rehearse barefoot. This is usually takes place late in the rehearsal process.

Platforms that are unsafe to walk on must be labeled prior to rehearsal

WHEN TO HOLD/PAUSE REHEARSAL

Improper lighting

During a complete blackout when actor feels unsafe

Medical Emergency

WHEN TO STOP OR CANCEL REHEARSAL​

If campus is closed due to severe weather rehearsal should be cancelled

Other cancellations will be made at the director’s discretion

SAFETY ESCORTS AFTER REHEARSAL

If an actor, crew member, or stage manager feels unsafe walking to their car after rehearsal, please utilize the UWL safety escorts.

LIGHTOVER PROCEDURE
Lightover is a rehearsal in which the lighting designer attends to look at the lights that will be available when they cue the show while a rehearsal is in process.

Actors should be informed of the dates lightover will be taking place

Work and house lights should be on during lightover
BACKSTAGE STORAGE

There must be a clear pathway backstage

Nothing can be stored in the path of the fly rail (in Toland)
