Welcome to Valmaturgy!!

Here is where you'll find all of the references that are made in rehearsal and the acting tools that are used during the run of the show. Click any of the buttons below to get some useful and helpful information!

Adventure Time  Rave!

One of the first references that we were given for our rave was Adventure Time with one of the rave scenes in that show. Given that this is a cartoon and the general vibe of our show is very Nickelodeon-esque, this is perfect! So here for your viewing pleasure is that scene from Adventure Time, as well as the jellyfish rave from SpongeBob because that also fits the general vibe of what we're going for.

Looks Like Meat's Back on the Menu, Boys!

At the end of the show there's a part where all of the dragons dive for the tacos and it's supposed to have energy similar to this clip here from Lord of the Rings. So check it out! Curious about Tolkien's dragons? Go check out the Tolkien Wiki page that's linked on the Dragonology Page!

Spicy Salsa Inspiration... With a Little Curry!

When Man in Suit is torturing/egging on the dragons during the spicy salsa bit, the energy is quite similar to this part in Tim Curry's cult classic film. So enjoy a little Curry and feel the antici.... pation of this clip!

Oh the Thinks You Can Think!

One of the references that was used in order to give an example of how our show won't be ending is the song "Oh the Thinks You Can Think: Reprise" from the beloved flop of a musical, Seussical. The song that was once upbeat and happy from the beginning of the musical becomes slow, sentimental, and dirge-y, and we're just not about that! But in case you were curious, now you can check out the song for yourself and see what we mean (as well as jam out to the opening version, because it's actually really good).

How to Speak Dragon (or Minionese. Or... What have you.)

Here are some reference links for various forms of gibberish that may be helpful in developing the way that Dragons talk. So listen to a couple and enjoy.

Swan Lake- Ballet moves and Swan Lake Game Play

Swan Lake is one a very interesting and dynamic piece of dance- and the dragons' version is no exception! Here is some links to some basic ballet moves as well as a game play through the Swan Lake map of Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games' Ice Skating event (Vancouver 2010).

From Beyond the Plate and Fire Sale

Here are the references from both Dinner for Schmucks and Arrested Development for the dragon panic noises.
